This Privacy Policy explains how Credit.com(“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our websites and services to recover money you may be owed.

Information we collect

Information you give us: your name, contact details (email, phone, and mailing address), the state you live in, information about your eligibility for a settlement, documents you upload, and your electronic signature on a retainer.

Financial account information (only if you connect an account): if you choose to connect a bank or credit-card account for monitoring, we receive read-only account and transaction information through our provider, Plaid. We never receive or store your online-banking username or password.

Information collected automatically: basic device and usage information (such as IP address and pages viewed) to operate and secure the site.

How we use your information

  • To monitor connected accounts for money you may be owed, such as improper or duplicate charges and junk fees.
  • To communicate with you about your claims and our services.
  • To comply with legal obligations and protect against fraud.

Plaid and connected accounts

We use Plaid Inc. (“Plaid”) to connect your accounts. By connecting an account, you also agree to Plaid’s End User Privacy Policy. Plaid accesses your account information on a read-only basis to provide us with transaction and account data. You can disconnect a connected account at any time by contacting us.

How we share information

We share your information only as needed to provide our services: with settlement administrators, claims administrators, and courts to file and pursue your claims; with service providers who help us operate (such as Plaid for account connection, and our hosting, database, and messaging providers); and when required by law.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your mobile phone number or text-messaging opt-in data with third parties for their own marketing.

Text messages

If you receive text messages from us, you can opt out at any time by replying STOP. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. Opting out of texts does not affect your claims.

How we protect your information

We use administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption of sensitive data (such as connected-account tokens) at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as needed to provide our services, pursue your claims, and meet legal and recordkeeping requirements, after which we delete or de-identify it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to opt out of certain processing. Residents of California and certain other states have additional rights, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@example.com.
